Monday Evening Town Hall

This optional session will be a facilitated dialogue among attendees on the challenges of teaching sustainability in a polarized political environment.  Following invited opening remarks from Peter Buckland and Matt Polsky, a candid peer-to-peer exchange will offer perspectives, guidance and hope.

The closest metro train station to the Penn State Philadelphia Center is: 8th Street Station (MAP), offering the Market-Frankford Line (blue line), Broad Street Line (orange line), PATCO Line (train to New Jersey) & Regional Rail Line. Other public transportation schedules can also be found on the SEPTA – Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority website.

Street parking is available in the downtown area, though, most metered spots are limited to 2 hours. The closest parking garage to the Center is located across the street in the Curtis Center Building, which offers parking for $24/day. For out of town guests, the Philadelphia International Airport is a 15 – 30 minute ride away (depending on traffic), or a 10 mile drive.

Lodging Options in Philadelphia

The conference venue is located in the Independence Hall/Old City area. Both of the recommended hotels below are within walking distance to the Penn State Philadelphia Center.    Transportation choices in Philadelphia abound, including subway, bus and taxi, so other hotels in Center City and West Philadelphia are minutes away.  AirBnB offers a further selection of lodging options.
