Simon Kemp is Head of International Centre for Environmental Science at University of Southampton in the UK. Simon’s teaching and research expertise lies in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), Carbon Footprinting, Environmental Law, and Waste Management. He is the University Lead in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), co-chair of Sustainability Action, and joint leader and founder of the Carbon Management Group. Simon’s work has been nationally recognised winning the Times Higher Education (THE) Most Innovative Teacher of the Year award 2013 (the sole individual HE teaching award), and he was also awarded a National Teaching Fellowship in 2010. He was recently seconded to the Higher Education Academy as UK Academic Lead in ESD where he led a range of national ESD projects such as the Green Academy programme, and the publication of the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) guidance document on ESD for universities.
